I have attached a pdf associated with an OECD book about linking research and learning, which I have just ordered. I have read some of it on-line and the pdf I have attached. What has struck me about this work is the challenges to some common ways of working that we have in the classroom. for example, our focus on individual work, the weak organisation of cooperative learning, and the shift of ICT use from transmission to pupil learning. I did like Dylan Wiliam's comparison of two views of teaching as 'sage on the stage' and 'guide on the side'. Learning facilitator has been caricatured as the latter but it should be seen as the teacher being an active participant in the pupil learning, not moving wholly from teacher transmitting to individual pupil learning, but a collaborative and engaging act where each actor has their own character without which the drama loses its effectiveness (sorry, but I have been thinking about plays for learning recently). I can commend you to read this book and share it with those who may benefit.
